If Messi is the pinnacle of football talent plus a lifelong dedication to his craft, is there something higher?
Journal
Hello my name is Youssef Bayoumy, I’m 30 years old and I am an amatuer football player. My goal is to surpass the likes of Maradona and Messi to become the best player in football‘s history.
I know the goal I just mentioned could be a dictionary definition of what the word naive means. But this is exactly why I am taking this unusual route and experimenting its process.
There must be an unknown way of doing things, a shortcut or a hack to achieve the impossible and I’m not waiting for aliens to introduce it to us.
Steps
of successn short:
1- Sign a professional contract.
2- Play for an elite team.
3- Get called up for Egypt’s national team.
4- Win the 2026 world cup for Egypt
(An underdog and the first african world champion).
Bonus: Win Fifa Clubs World Cup with an African team.
Theoretically anyone can become Messi but in reality not everyone can. Just like being a billionaire.
It takes thousands of hours, uncountable failures, energy, sweat, blood and luck on top of a good fair portion of talent.
But if Messi is the pinnacle of talent and a lifelong dedication to his craft, is there something that can beat that?
If there is a formula, what‘s the expiry date on it?
What’s the age cap or when is it too late?
It goes without saying the more talent you have the closer you are reaching this level. The younger you are the higher your chances are.
A 16 year old prodigy has a decent chance of becoming the next Messi or Ronaldo. While a 70 year old man has a close to absolute zero chance of becoming the next Messi or Ronaldo, but not absolute.
You can argue as much as you want that its impossible for that grandpa to ever be an athlete let alone become this elite and I can’t argue back. It may be true in 2023 but only until someone opens a door for it. We have not yet reached a door close to this evolutionary space, but we just need to continue walking our way through this corridor of doors with belief and vision and just maybe by 2123 we might just reach there.
But as of 2023, I (at 30 years of age) believe I can become a Messi. I believe I can win the world cup with the first African team in history, and become the best who ever did it, because I believe and because I am a critical problem solver and a flow-state enthusiast.
I can back up my illogical claims rationally.
Working the hardest in the traditional sense is not enough anymore and certainatly not at my age, but working the hardest and smartest may be just enough.
With certain tweeks, creatively thinking outside the box, integrating alternative and holistic methods as well as established scientific schools and the right technology on top of lots of work with the right mentality and the right team of experts, we will open many doors in the field of athletic performance.
I know this may still sound ridiculously naive and insane and I can live with you calling me whatever you want. But the only thing sufficient for me at the moment is intriguing your thoughts and sparking your imagination just enough to ignite your curiosity and let me have my shot in unfolding my truth.
You do not have to be fully convinced, I don’t expect you to, I want to enjoy my time changing that.
If you believe there are new ways and new doors to be opened to unlock a revolutionising way of sports performance and break stigmas then join me. we could use the help of everyone.
God is the greatest.
Youssef Bayoumy.
